華府中文學校的青少年龍舟隊於8月30日(2008)參加了在賓州Harrisburg 由中華文化藝術學會舉辦的第二屆龍舟竸賽。

這場比賽在由華府中文學校十二年級學生許康瑞及陳訂端所表演的舞獅掀開序幕, 再由Harrisburg 市長Mayor Stephen R. Reed 點睛後開始。

華府中文學校青少年龍舟隊在這次比賽中所展現的團隊精神,默契, 成熟的技巧與訓練使該隊分別得到了大會分組B Group第二名及青少年組（Youth Group）第二名。

華府中文學校青少年龍舟隊是由華府中文學校的高中組學生所組成的, 成軍到現在已是第四年（屆）。 在教練李式平的訓練及帶領下年年得到DC 龍舟比賽250M及500M 的雙料冠軍, 不但為華府中文學校增光, 學生們更是從划船中得到了無比的樂趣及學習到了團隊合作的重要性。

華府中文學校董事會及家長會對龍舟隊的全力支持更有如虎添翼般的效果。

HuaFu Chinese School Youth Dragon Boat Team Raced in the 2nd Annual Dragon Boat Race at Harrisburg, PA on Aug 30, 2008

HuaFu Chinese School Youth Dragon Boat Team raced in the 2nd annual Dragon Boat Race held at Harrisburg, PA on 8/30/2008. 

The event started with the famous Lion Dance performed by HuaFu Chinese School 12th graders Rex Hsu 許康瑞 and TingTuan Chen 陳訂端, followed by the Eye-Dotted Ceremony by Harrisburg City Mayor Stephen R. Reed.

HuaFu Chinese School Youth Dragon Boat Team demonstrated flawless team work, refined techniques and skills.  The team won 2nd Place in the B Group Open Division Race and 2nd Place in the Youth Division Race.

HuaFu Chinese School Youth Dragon Boat has been trained by Coach Li, ShiPing for 4 years; the team has won the DC Dragon Boat Race Youth Championships of 250M and 500M races for 4 consecutive years.

HuaFu Chinese School Youth Dragon Boat appreciates HuaFu School Board and PTA’s ongoing supports.
